Here’s one of many stories of how God has provided for our needs that I’d like to share:
Earlier this Spring, I flew down to Orlando to attend a church planting conference. After the conference, I returned to the Orlando airport for the second leg of my journey to meet Holly and visit several of our friends and extended family in Texas. After unsuccessfully trying to get on an earlier flight to Dallas, I finally boarded my scheduled flight to DFW . On that flight from Orlando to Dallas, I sat next to a husband and wife, John and Sharon, who were returning to Dallas after vacationing in Florida. We struck up a conversation, and I talked with John for the better part of the flight. He worked for a large construction company that supplied concrete for the new Texas Stadium, so we talked about football, and family, and eventually I came to find out he and his wife were solid Christ followers.
I told them of how God was leading us to Ireland this fall, and the church plant we would be serving with. As the flight ended, John gave me his business card and told me to send him our prayer card. It was another month or two before we had even finished our prayer and support postcards, but after we had, I found his card buried in my wallet. I sent them a postcard, not even knowing if he would remember who I was. A couple months passed…I didn’t think anything of it, again, I didn’t even know that he would remember a few minutes of conversation with a stranger (i.e. me) several months prior. Well, a couple weeks ago, I received an email, with a handwritten note scanned as an attachment. I love hand written notes – scanned, mailed, or otherwise – so that was a great encouragement to me. Additionally, a check that they had sent to our mission agency for $2,400 was included. We were floored by their generosity, and the amazing ways God is providing! God has blessed us with supporters who have been life long friends or family, and he has also blessed us with people we’ve only met once and shared an hour with.
Thank you, John and Sharon.
